Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. (10/30/10) -- Nick Cornell's tie-breaking goal with 17:08 left in the game lifted Randolph College a 4-2 victory over Guilford College Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Soccer Tournament quarterfinal. Cornell assisted Tristan Luner's insurance tally in the 85th minute that sealed the Wildcats' (10-7-1) first postseason victory in school history.
Randolph, making its ODAC Tournament debut as the fourth seed, grabbed a 1-0 lead three minutes into the match when rookie Will Wolf buried a loose ball off a corner kick for his second goal of the season.
Richard Page got the Quakers (10-6-3) on the board just before halftime with a blast from over 45 yards away that marked the junior's third tally of the year.
Randolph briefly regained the lead in the 52nd minute on a Jacob Hood goal assisted by Timothy Songer. Guilford senior Jordan Alexander answered less than a minute later when he headed a Greg Carnovale feed into the net for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Fifth-seeded Guilford enjoyed a 16-14 edge in shots, including a 10-2 first-half advantage, but Wildcats' goalie Aaron Humphreys preserved the win with seven saves. Guilford rookie Marko Mandalinic had none.
Randolph advances to play the winner of Saturday night's quarterfinal between top-seeded Lynchburg College and number-eight Randolph-Macon College.
The Quakers' 10 victories mark their most in a season since 2003.
