Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GREENSBORO, N.C. (4/1/09) - Guilford College combined for 24 runs in 10 innings to sweep visiting Mary Baldwin College in a rain-plagued softball doubleheader Wednesday.  The Quakers took advantage of nine Squirrels' walks and 12 wild pitches for an 8-0 win in the five-inning opener.  Julie Langseth and Kimberly Keys both hit two-run homers as Guilford scored a season-high 16 runs in the 16-0, five-inning win in the nightcap.

Guilford senior Kelly Guarnieri became the Quakers' career hits leader (145) with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning of game two.

The first game was played in a steady drizzle, which hurt Mary Baldwin pitcher Amanda Miller (2-11). Guilford, which stole a season-high four bases, scored eight times on just five hits. Charissa Duncan had two hits and Amber Stapler delivered two runs batted in, including a game-ending double in the bottom of the fifth inning. Taryn Pulvermuller fanned five and yielded two hits for her second shutout of the season.

Langseth's second homer  the season helped Guilford open a 4-0 lead after one inning of game two. That was all the offense Guilford needed as Jessica Burcham struck out 10 and gave up two hits for her team-leading fifth win and third shutout of the season. Keys had three hits and four RBI, both career highs, and two runs batted in.  Ami Hutcherson went 3-4 with three RBI and a triple. Courtney Clousi had both of Mary Baldwin's hits.

Guilford hosts Emory & Henry College Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
