Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. (1-10-09) – Brittany Snyder scored 17 points and Danielle Scott added 14 points and 10 rebounds to help visiting Eastern Mennonite University past Guilford College, 67-53, Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball action.
Snyder made two three-pointers and Marla Young added another during a decisive 17-0 run midway through the first half. The burst turned a seven-point Guilford lead into a 26-16 Royals' edge. Eastern Mennonite (10-2, 5-2 ODAC) took a nine-point lead into halftime and led by 12 points early in the second half. Jessica Casto's second three-pointer of the game drew the Quakers (5-7, 4-3 ODAC) to within 50-44 with 7:57 remaining. The Royals closed the door down the stretch, allowing only two Guilford field goals in the final six minutes.
The Royals forced 18 Guilford turnovers and limited the Quakers to under 36 percent field-goal shooting in their fourth win in five games. Point guard Melissa Lewis enjoyed a solid all-around game with 10 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Guilford's Tracey Croner led all scorers with 19 points, thank to seven-for-eight field-goal shooting. Teammate Lauren LeFevers added 11 points off the bench, including three three-pointers.
The Quakers return to action Tuesday (1/13) at league-rival Randolph College at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Mennonite hosts Washington and Lee University Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
