Box Score 2 Greensboro, N.C. (4/2/08) -- Guilford College closed the home portion of its schedule with two Old Dominion Athletic Conference victories over visiting Randolph College Wednesday afternoon. The Quakers (15-14-1, 5-7 ODAC) ended both games in the fifth inning, winning 9-1 and 11-1. The Quakers improved to 12-0 all-time versus the Wildcats.
In the opener, freshman Samantha Golley yielded two hits, struck out a career-high nine batters and added two runs batted in (RBI) as the Quakers scored a 9-1 victory. Junior shortstop Amber Stapler added two hits and a career- and game-high four RBIs. She hit a three-run triple in the fifth inning and added an RBI single in the first inning. Outfielder Ciara Locklear, the lone senior making her final home appearances, went two-for-two with a double and an RBI.
In the nightcap, winning pitcher Taryn Pulvermuller went three-for-three wit three RBIs and fanned six. The junior had a two-run double in the third inning and an RBI single in the fourth. Freshman outfielder Morgan Freyer had two hits and a career-best three RBIs. She hit a two-run single in the third and had an RBI single in the fourth inning. Golley went three-for-three with two RBIs in the game and missed hitting for the cycle by a home run. She went four-for-five with five RBIs and three runs scored in the two games.
Lindsay Cross had two hits for the Wildcats (3-13, 0-12 ODAC) in the nightcap.
