Guilford Rallies for 3-2 Women's Soccer Win over Methodist

Box Score

Greensboro, N.C.(9/6/06) -- Jennah Carter scored twice in the final 4:05 to rally Guilford past visiting Methodist in a nonconference women's soccer match Wednesday. Carter's second goal, with five seconds left in regulation, came off an Emily Ott feed from the top of the box. Ott also set up the game-tying goal when her long-range shot hit the crossbar and fell in front of the Methodist goal where Carter put it home to tie the game at 2-2 with 4:05 left in the game.

Methodist took it's second lead of the game in the 76th minute when rookie Whitney Roberson tallied her second goal of the game after a Guilford turnover in the back. Roberson also scored in the 9th minute, which helped the Monarchs to a 1-0 halftime lead. Methodist had another goal taken off the scoreboard in the second half due to an offside call.

Amanda Sperr scored off a Rachel Gwin feed just under 10 minutes into the second half to account for the Quakers' first goal. Veronica Zych made three saves in goal for the Quakers, a couple from close range. Amanda Evans had seven saves for Methodist.

The Quakers return to action Saturday against visiting Emory at 1:00 p.m. in the first game of the Guilford Classic. Lynchburg challenges Chowan in the day's second game at 3:00 p.m
