Guilford Suffers 3-2 Conference Loss to Eastern Mennonite

Harrisonburg, Va. (9/20/06) -- Katie Lamm scored three times, including the game winner in the 63rd minute to give Eastern Mennonite a 3-2 win over visiting Guilford in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer match Wednesday. The loss ends Guilford's four-match winning streak. The Quakers (4-3, 2-1 ODAC) are ranked ninth in this week's NSCAA/adidas Division III South Region poll.

Guilford's Jennah Carter scored twice in the first half to give the Quakers a 2-1 halftime lead. Carter, who has scored in each of Guilford's last six matches, is the two-time defending ODAC Player of the Week and leads the team with 10 goals.

Lamm accounted for the Royals (5-1, 3-0 ODAC) score off a Lindsey Snyder assist in the 26th minute. She tied the game for a second time at the 55:30 mark on a penalty kick and hit the game-winner off a Vanessa Rice assist at the 63-minute mark.

Eastern Mennonite goalie Joy Schaiebly made three saves, including one in the final minute on Guilford's Morgan Jones that preserved the win. Guilford netminder Veronica Zych made two saves. Eastern Mennonite outshot Guilford, 10-9.

The Quakers return to action Saturday at Bridgewater.
