Box Score

GREENSBORO, NC (1/14/06) --  Junior guard Tara Jones scored 22 points off the bench to help Eastern Mennonite to a 70-63 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win at Guilford Saturday.

Jones helped the Royals erase an early 11-point deficit and claim a 41-37 halftime lead. Eastern Mennonite (10-4, 6-3 ODAC) opened a 52-40 edge with 12:32 left in the game before a 12-2 Quakers' (3-9, 2-5 ODAC) run got the hosts to within 54-52 with 8:40 remaining. The teams traded baskets before Jones' runner in the lane triggered a 12-1 spurt over the next 3:16 that sealed the Royals' sixth straight win.

Jones made eight-of-nine field goals and scored 14 second-half points. Amanda Renalds chipped in 14 points and added six rebounds for Eastern Mennonite, which outrebounded the Quakers, 45-31. Stephanie Bowers and Megan Seward contributed nine points apiece. Eastern Mennonite's reserves outscored Guilford's, 41-5.

The loss spoiled Guilford senior Jennifer King's (left) game-best 32 points, which matched her career high. She had a personal-best five three pointers, the fourth-highest single-game total in school history. Rookie Brittany Bumgarner added nine points and classmate Kristine Ellis finished with seven points and a game-high nine rebounds.
