Box Score LYNCHBURG, VA (9/14/05) -- Behind a goal and an assist from junior midfielder Melanie Chidester, the Lynchburg College women's soccer team opened its 2005 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) slate Wednesday with a 2-0 win over visiting Guilford College. The win snapped the Quakers' four game unbeaten streak.
Chidester assisted junior forward Christina DiLiddo just 1:21 into the contest to give the Hornets an early 1-0 lead. After entering intermission with the one-goal advantage, Chidester added an unassisted insurance tally off a rebound in front of the cage at the 50:39 mark of the second half.
The Lynchburg defense held the Quakers (3-2-1/0-1 ODAC) to seven shots on the afternoon to record the team's third-straight shutout. LC fired 10 shots for the game, and was awarded six corner kicks to Guilford's four.
Guilford's next game will be on the road against league rival Virginia Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m. The Hornets (4-1/1-0) host ODAC foe Bridgewater College Saturday at 1 p.m.
