Guilford Rallies for 2-1 Win over Randolph-Macon in M Soccer

Box Score

Ashland, VA (10/11/05) - Senior Andres Miranda netted his team-leading seventh goal of the season with 4:43 left in regulation to lift visiting Guilford to a 2-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's soccer win at Randolph-Macon Wednesday. The comeback win snapped the Quakers' two-match losing skid and evened their record at 5-5-3 overall, 1-4 in the ODAC.

Randolph-Macon, which entered the match ranked seventh in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III South Region Poll, falls to 9-3-1, 3-3-1 in the league.

The Yellow Jackets' Matt Cooper opened the scoring in the 51st minute with his second goal of the year off a David Tait assist.

The Quakers' Greg Haver knotted the score at one with his career-high sixth goal of 2005 thanks to a Joe Rigert pass. Haver also assisted on Miranda's winning tally.

Senior Matt McCall got his third start in goal for Guilford and made five saves in his third win of the year. Randolph-Macon goalie Nick Warner made six stops.

Guilford returns to the pitch Friday (10/14) at league-foe Hampden-Sydney, the region's sixth-ranked side.
