Box Score Greensboro, NC (01/13/01) -- Rookie guard Kate Goodman (Salisbury, NC/West Rowan) scored all 13 of her team- and career-high 13 points in the second half as Guilford rallied for an 89-71 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Eastern Mennonite Saturday.
Guilford (8-3, 6-1 ODAC) notched its fifth straight win thanks to a solid defensive effort in the second half. Trailing 33-32 at halftime, the Quakers outscored Eastern Mennonite (3-9, 1-7 ODAC), 25-7, and held the Royals to one field goal during a six-minute stretch early in the final period. Goodman netted seven points and senior forward Arden Miller (Landenberg, PA/Sanford School (DE)) scored six of her 13 points during the decisive run. The Royals drew no closer than 14 points the rest of the way and shot less than 29 percent from the field in the second half.
Eastern Mennonite sophomore guard Emily Mullet (Harrisonburg, VA/Eastern Mennonite) and rookie Heather Maslauskas (Hedgesville, WV/Hedgesville) kept the Royals in the game with nine three-pointers between them. Mullet improved on her Division III-best 25.4 points per game scoring average with a game-high 27 markers thanks to six three-point goals. She also grabbed a game-high nine boards and made nine of 10 free throws. Maslauskas hit three of five trifectas and 11 free throws en route to a career-high 24 points.
Guilford rookies Jennie Keichline (Cary, NC/East Chapel Hill) and A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) each scored 10 points in the Quakers' highest-scoring game of the season. Sophomore Shannon Underwood (Niantic, CT/East Lyme) tallied six points and grabbed a career-and game-high nine rebounds in only nine minutes.
