Lexington, VA (10/07/00) — Host Washington and Lee (8-1, 5-1 ODAC) beat Guilford (6-5-1, 2-4 ODAC) today 3-0. The game was scoreless until the second half when senior midfielder John Wilson (Newport News, VA/Hampton Roads) scored in the 61st minute to give W&L a 1-0 lead. Junior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) scored in the 76th minute with an assist from sophomore forward Brad Murphy (Mantoloking, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy). Murphy scored the final goal in the 82nd minute to give the Generals a 3-0 victory.
The Generals' sophomore goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, MD/Georgetown Prep) recorded his second shutout with two saves. Guilford's freshman goalkeeper Ryan Fitzgibbons (Dayville, CN/Killingly) made seven saves in the loss.
