NORMAN, Okla. – Braeden Gillen (Holly Springs, N.C.),
Andrew Perry (Fuquay Varina, N.C.), and
Luke Wise (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) represented the Guilford College golf team, getting named 2025-26 NCAA Division III Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Monday afternoon.
In order to qualify for the honor, a golfer must be both an academic and athletic sophomore or higher for the 2025-26 season. On the course, they must compete in at minimum 50% of their team's competitive rounds, and at the NCAA Division III level, own a stroke average below 79.0. Academically, the student athlete must possess a cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2 or higher. Additionally, a recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Entering the Quaker lineup and emerging in his second season in the Gate City, Gillen was a consistent contributor this, being penciled into the lineup at all 10 "A" team events and factoring into the team scoring at seven of them. He played his best golf in the early to mid-spring, stringing together four of his five event scores that finished at +10 or lower and topping the GC leaderboard at consecutive competitions at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate and the Sam Snead Collegiate, with the later marking a milestone as his first-career top-10 finish overall. Cumulatively over 29 rounds of golf, Gillen averaged a 76.38 round score, the fourth-best on the team. Off the course, Gillen is studying Business Administration and owns a 3.26 GPA.
The lone repeat recipient of this honor for men's golf this year, Perry maintained a high level of play en route to being the lone Quaker representative on the All-ODAC squad, getting Second Team recognition. He was a scorer at every one of Guilford's events this season, leading the squad by topping the team leaderboard four times including three-straight wrapping around the winter break, at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial, Savannah Harbor Invitational, and the Tiger Invitational. At the middle of those three events, he posted his first-career below-par score at -1, while posting a single-digit score to par six times. Finishing with a team-best average score of 74.93 strokes at +3 across 29 rounds. Perry has studied Business Administration at Guilford, and owns a 3.35 GPA.
Wise doubles-up on academic honors this summer after also being a recipient of CSC Academic All-District recognition back in June. Consistency was the biggest strength for the second-year lefty, finishing as a scorer in the Guilford lineup in all-but-one of their 10 competitions. He was particularly at home, when he was close to home, finishing as the team's best scorer at the NCAA Division III Fall Preview and then the NCAA Division-III National Championship, both played in his native state of Florida. He completed the season third on the team in stroke average, at 76.17, good for +4, playing all-29 "A" team rounds for GC. In the classroom, Wise owns a GPA of 3.53 and is also studying Business Administration.
Nationally, 250 Division-III student-athletes were recognized with All-America Scholar status, hailing from 91 separate schools.
