GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Guilford College rugby team has announced its 2026 fall schedule, featuring a challenging slate of NCAA Division I, II, and III opponents, alongside strong local competition. The Quakers will host five matches at home as they look to build on the program's continued growth and compete at a higher level.
The Quakers enter the 2026 fall season following a 6-7 campaign in 2025-26, its first full season competing in NCAA CV's rugby. Guilford finished 2-3 in National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) play while earning notable victories throughout the season, including a pair of wins over Warren Wilson, and a 104-0 victory at the UNC Greensboro 7's Invitational before closing out the year with a second-place finish at the NIRA Division III Invitational.
"We are excited about what this group can accomplish this season. We continue to challenge ourselves against competitive opponents across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III while supplementing our schedule with strong, local club programs," said Head Coach Christine Newcomb. "This season is about competing together, continuing to develop our identity, and embracing the challenge of playing at a higher level. Our players have embraced the challenges and opportunities that come with building an NCAA rugby program, and our goal now is to continue raising the standard."
Guilford opens the season at home as they host Emory & Henry College and Warren Wilson College on September 12. The Quakers look to battle against Emory & Henry, and continue their five-game win streak against Warren Wilson.
Staying at home, GC hosts UNC Charlotte a week later, on September 19 starting at 12:00 PM. The Quakers will meet the 49ers for the first time since March of 2025, and look to keep their undefeated record against Charlotte.
The month of October hosts four weeks of road action for Guilford. The team will travel to Virginia for a second match against Emory & Henry on October 4 before heading back to their home state to take on Queens University of Charlotte on October 10.
After a weekend off, Guilford will close out the month with back-to-back home state matches at Warren Wilson on October 24, and UNC Chapel Hill on October 30. The Quakers will look to pick up their first win against the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.
The Quakers close out their fall campaign on their home pitch on Saturday, November 7 to celebrate Senior Day and take on Coastal Carolina University.
