Four black sofas embroidered with the Guilford College Athletics logo have been delivered to the men's and women's basketball locker rooms in Ragan-Brown Field House, providing student-athletes with a more comfortable and welcoming space.
The sofas were donated by Bassett Furniture Industries, Inc., in Virginia. The donation of the sofas was made possible by Mike Daniel, Bassett's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial
Both basketball programs have been working to enhance their locker room spaces as part of ongoing efforts to improve the student-athlete experience.
"These sofas will certainly enhance the daily experience of our current team while also helping us showcase the quality of our facilities to prospective recruits," says Head Men's Basketball Coach,
Jesse DeLoof. "I look forward to sharing the updated locker room space with our athletes and members of the program."
Women's Basketball Head Coach,
Sarah Mathews says it's important that the College's locker rooms are updated and inviting. "Not only for our current student-athletes but also for future Quakers," she says. "Our teams spend countless hours in these spaces throughout their college careers for practices, games, team meetings and studying. Enhancements like these make a meaningful difference."
The late Howard Haworth '57, a former Guilford trustee, was a member of Bassett Furniture's board for nearly two decades. "Howard would have been pleased to see Bassett support our students in this way," says President Jean Bordewich. "We are grateful for this generous gift and the partnership it represents."
