GREENSBORO, N.C. – Ashley Belnap (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and
Chandler Sizemore (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) were honored as representatives of the Guilford College women's tennis team on the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team for their performance on and off the court, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
In order to qualify for the honor in tennis, student-athletes must be at least an academic and athletic sophomore, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher in the classroom. Meanwhile, a nominee must be in the lineup for 75% of the team's total head-to-head competitions that had a team-scored result. No more than four student-athletes may be a nominee in tennis per school, per gender.
Playing out of the second flight of singles and doubles for much of the season, Belnap posted a winning record for the first time in her collegiate career in a breakthrough senior season. She competed exclusively out of the second flight for singles this year, playing to a 9-8 record overall, she went 8-7 in duals matches and 5-4 against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play, easily topping her prior bests for a season. In doubles, she was largely paired with her fellow Academic All-District honoree, Sizemore, with the duo going 8-9 overall, 7-8 in duals, mostly in the second flight, though they did win their only clash as the Quakers top tandem this year. Late in the campaign, Belnap did bump up to play alongside
Carolina Dirk (Port Aransas, Texas) in the top flight of play, with the duo going 2-0. Playing near the top of the GC lineup, Belnap played a major role in the Quakers' top season in almost two decades as they went 10-7 and 6-4 in ODAC action. An academic standout throughout her time in Greensboro, Belnap is completing her degree in Business Administration owning a GPA of 3.75.
Sizemore also gets recognized in her first year eligible for Academic All-District honors after finishing a very respectable 2025-26 season on the court and in the classroom. Playing all-but-one match out of the third flight of singles, she finished with a 7-10 mark that included a 6-9 record in duals for Guilford. In ODAC action Sizemore tacked on a 3-5 mark. She mostly played with Belnap in doubles before getting placed in a tandem alongside
McKenna Merritt (Dobson, N.C.) to close the year, cumulatively posting a mark of 8-11. In duals, Sizemore went 7-10 including 4-6 in conference competition near-exclusively out of the second flight and going 1-0 when bumping atop GC's doubles lineup. As a top-half of the lineup contributor, Sizemore's play helped guide the Quakers to their first winning season in ODAC play since 2011-12. Completing her second year competing and studying in the cardinal and grey, Sizemore, is double-majoring in Exercise & Sport Sciences as well as Health Sciences, owning a brilliant 3.95 GPA.
Belnap becomes a two-time Academic All-District honoree for GC this season after being the only representative last spring. Getting joined by Sizemore this year, the women's tennis program increases their total number of selections from 2025.
