FOREST, Va. – Ringing in the
Dylan Neisler era, the Guilford College men's lacrosse team seeks to exceed expectations with a third-consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament berth after being selected ninth in the ODAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference offices on Wednesday afternoon.
This Quakers roster vastly differs from their 2025 iteration with their fresh face as head coach represents just the tip of the iceberg. GC returns just 14 of their 172 goals scored along with just a single assist from last season, leaving plenty of chances to ascend into roles, but also a great deal of uncertainty entering the new season.
Kenneth Crowley (Charlotte, N.C.) is the squads' top returning scorer, having netted eight goals across 14 appearances in addition to causing a pair of turnovers and scooping five groundballs. After him is
Jason Campbell (Fairfax, Va.), as he netted four goals and assisted on another while pacing retained field players with nine groundballs and a duo of caused turnovers while playing all-18 games. After that, only
Will Parham (Raleigh, N.C.) and
Antonio Puopolo (Holly Springs, N.C.) and their singular goals apiece remain from last spring. That is not to say there is a lack of intrigue. Quite the opposite, in fact, as Guilford plucked several roster members from the Quakers of the gridiron, among them wide receivers turned midfielders
Cameron Campbell (Flowery Branch, Ga.) and
Brendon Bradford (King, N.C.) plus linebacker
Christian Jackson (PG's County, Md.) and punter
Taiwo Jones (Atlanta, Ga.). Accustomed to playing through contact and with plenty of athleticism, they have a chance to be key contributors.
Defensively, Guilford will not lack beef for the same reason as above after adding offensive linemen
Dom Bialer (West End, N.C.) and
Kale Cushing (Clemmons, N.C.) and long snapper
Tyler Gordon (Weston, Fla.) to their backline alongside freshmen full-time lacrosse players
Hudson Bosland (Otisville, N.C.),
Adrian Moorman (Ottawa, Canada), and
Joshua Garrido (Chamblee, Ga.). One of the few knowns about this GC team is in net, where
Darius Safavi-Abbassi (Culver City, Calif.) is back for his third season as a starter after finishing 2025 with a 13.87 goals against average and .497 save percentage. He will be backed up by
Lucas Satterwhite (Oxford, N.C.) who only saw about 44 minutes in goal last season, but saved three of the five shots sent his way. A distinct weakness a season ago, being constantly on the defensive because they only won faceoffs at a .297 rate, Guilford hopes to find more success in the circle with the add of
Nick Iannone (Wellington, Fla.), also off the football roster, as their faceoff specialist for the upcoming season.
Guilford begins their season on Wednesday, February 11
th playing host to Methodist University beginning at 7:00 PM before hosting Greensboro in their crosstown rivalry clash a week later. The Quakers' ODAC opener is set for Tuesday, March 3
rd when they host Virginia Wesleyan University at 7:00 PM.
