Kahre’s Hat Trick Leads Women’s Soccer Onslaught of Hollins

Bain & Berry add braces as Quakers snap spell with first ODAC win

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Ashtyn Kahre (Fort Mill, S.C.) netted a hat trick while Sarah Bain (Haymarket, Va.) and Kylee Berry (Kernersville, N.C.) provided further support, each netting a brace for the Guilford College women's soccer team (2-6-2, 1-4-0 ODAC) rocked Hollins University (1-8-0, 0-5-0 ODAC), 9-0 for their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory at Appenzeller Field at the Armfield Athletic Center on Wednesday night.

The Quakers' scoring output vaults them into a tie for seventh in the program record books, equaling their goals total against Sweet Briar College and Hollins during the 2024 season, which was the last time the program scored nine-or-more goals in a match. Individually, Kahre's trio of tallies makes her the first Quaker with a hat trick since Lily Brown '26 also achieved the feat against HU last fall.

GC dominated the match thoroughly, outshooting their guests 31-5 and 17-3 in shots on goal. They also received 10 of the contest's 11 corner kicks while it was a chippy affair overall, with Hollins committing nine fouls to the Quakers' seven.

Madison Motto (Waxhaw, N.C.) continued her early-career advance up the record books, polishing her eighth career clean sheet to take sole control of fifth-most in program history. She improved to 2-5-2 on the season making three saves against the five total shots faced. Zoe Baxter was under constant duress and fell to 0-4-0 allowing seven goals with eight saves on 25 shots faced over 81:17. Grace Glerum finished it off, facing six shots, yielding a goal on both shots on goal.

In addition to the multi-goal outputs by Bain, Berry, and Kahre, both Ella Prevost (Concord, N.C.) and Peyton Berg (Jacksonville, N.C.) each netted their first collegiate goals. Bain and Berry each contributed assists, as did Emma Goodnough (Oviedo, Fla.) and Adey Pearson (Flagstaff, Ariz.). Kahre's first goal ended up being the matches' game-winner.

Macy Lieb saw both her shot attempts land on frame while one of Lida Krodel's tandem of attempts threatened the twine for Hollins. Evelyn Keefer had an off-target look as well.

Guilford netted their first goal in the 10th minute of play as Bain operated in the midfield before threading the needle from center-pitch to the left wing. Kahre got to it at the top-right corner of the 18' and fired back across the crease for her second goal of the season.

The next tally would not come until the 29th minute, as Berry controlled the ball in the defensive zone, advanced to midfield and delivered a rocket deep into Hollins territory, beating a couple defenders along the way. Once again, Kahre was the beneficiary, getting the ball at the top of the box straight-away and shooting with the left foot into the bottom-left for her second goal of the night and third of the year.

Berry got one more for Guilford before the half in the 41st minute, after a foul granted a free kick about 25 yards out on the left wing. She took care of it herself, hooking it around the defensive wall and into the bottom-right for her third goal on the season.

Opening the second half scoring in the 49th minute, Goodnough twisted to fire a great feed down the pitch, caught up to by Prevost at the tip of the 18' off the left post. She went strong-side to find twine for her first collegiate goal and Goodnough's first college helper.

Things really opened up against the Hollins defense in the final 12 minutes. In the 79th minute, Bain got the runaway started after Pearson settled a feed into the box and saw her shot attempt blocked. It rolled right to the sophomore who fired into the left side of the net for her first goal of the night.

Kahre got her hat trick in the 82nd minute, settling the ball in the 18' maneuvering across the top of the box and chipping one over the defense into the left side of the goal.

In the 85th minute, Berg got her first after dropping a tandem of HU defenders to make her way into the left side of the box. She fired a shot and beat the keeper for the first goal of her collegiate career.

Berry wrapped things up in the 87th minute on another free kick, this one from 36 yards out straight away. Her shot went into the bottom-left, bringing the tallies to the final of 9-0.

Guilford looks to build on the momentum on Saturday night, October 10, hosting Bridgewater College for a 6:00 PM first kick.
