Game One:
Gracie Ellis secured the win, maintaining her spotless pitching record of 12-0. She pitched five shutout innings while allowing just three hits. She also recorded six strikeouts in the opener.
Elizabeth Eller (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) (0-1) was issued the loss in her first appearance on the mound for the Quakers this season as she walked three, allowed three runs, and two hits.
Dillon Northen (Kernersville, N.C.) came in for relief, surrendering seven hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings.
Arden Finney (Boonville, N.C.) followed, allowing two hits and two runs (one earned), while
Micah Wilson (Asheboro, N.C.) took the mound in the fifth to contribute to the Quakers' pitching effort.
The Yellow Jackets capitalized on their opportunities early, scoring three runs in the second inning and adding two more in both the third and fourth. Jacy Ramos recorded the third walk of the second inning for Randolph-Macon and let Charlotte Boswell walk home. Later in the inning Amanda Lanyon hit a two out single into left center field to score Blayne Talley and Kayla Davis, giving the Lemon and Black a 3-0 lead. Amanda Lanyon led the charge, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Talley and Natalie Sadler each contributed an RBI and a stolen base.
Corryn McCutchen (Carthage, N.C.),
Riley Murrish (Boerne, Texas), and
Chloee Stoner (Salisbury, N.C.) recorded Guilford's only hits on the day.
Game Two:
Courtney Guthrie (8-0) was nearly untouchable, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with just one walk and one strikeout.
Abbey Whelan (Gaithersburg, Md.) (3-5) took the loss for game two as she allowed nine hits, eight runs, walked three, and struck out one.
Shiloh Gray (Lexington, N.C.) came in as relief for the home team for 2.1 innings, striking out two, walking one, and allowing one hit.
Reagan Hill led the Yellow Jackets at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. In the third inning, Boswell and Talley sparked the Yellow Jackets' offense with consecutive singles. Talley then stole second, prompting a throw from GC, which led to an error that allowed Boswell to cross home plate. Later in the inning, Ramos reached scoring position after drawing a walk and successfully stealing second.
Jordan Brown delivered a single up the middle, driving in Talley and Ramos to push Randolph-Macon's lead to 5-0. The offense kept rolling as Lanyon followed with a single, and Tori Powell worked a walk to load the bases with two outs. Hill then cleared them with a double down the left field line, bringing home Brown, Lanyon, and Powell. The six-run inning extended the Yellow Jackets' advantage to 8-0.
Guilford struggled at the plate as six separate Quakers went 0-for-2 while three of them were 0-for-1 throughout the second matchup.
The University of Lynchburg is the next ODAC opponent for Guilford on Wednesday, April 2nd. The Quakers will travel to Lynchburg, VA to play the Hornets at 2:30 PM for game one and 4:30 for game two.
