Volleyball Closes Regular Season with Senior Day Win Over Carolina

Johnson and Duvall shine as Quakers extend win streak to six

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College volleyball team (18-8, 6-5 ODAC) closed out its regular season in style on Friday night, earning a 3-0 victory (27-25, 25-20, 25-12) over Carolina University (21-13, 4-2 CAC) at Ragan-Brown Field House. The win marks the Quakers' sixth straight victory, capping an impressive regular-season run in which they've won 33 of their last 37 sets.

Before first serve, the Quakers honored the hard work and dedication of their six seniors: Victoria Harper (Greensboro, N.C.), Amber Chiarolanzio (Deep Gap, N.C.), Zoe Whisnant (Greensboro, N.C.), Kaci Johnson (Winterville, N.C.), Madison Duvall (Sophia, N.C.), and Natalie Moore (Talbott, Tenn.).

Guilford was led by Johnson's 12 kills and Duvall's four blocks, while Vivian Cavataio (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) anchored the defense with 11 digs. Jillian Mapes (Hodges, S.C.) ran the offense efficiently, finishing with 28 assists.

Standout players for Carolina were Karli Totel with nine kills, Syvannah Poore with 18 assists, and Kai Horta with 15 digs.

The Bruins dominated early in the first set, racing out to a 12-16 lead. Despite being sidelined by injury, Chiarolanzio delivered a memorable moment with a service ace, helping to spark Guilford's comeback. Whisnant provided key defensive plays throughout the frame, keeping several long rallies alive as the Quakers edged out a 27-25 win.

The second set saw Angel Brown (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) make her presence felt at the net with three blocks, while Harper added a service ace during a late scoring run that lifted Guilford to a 25-20 victory.

In the third and final set, Chrisbel Alcantara (San Juan, Puerto Rico) caught fire with four kills, fueling an early surge that put the match out of reach. The Quakers dominated the frame, hitting .440 as a team and closing out the sweep 25-12 in front of an energized Senior Day crowd.

With the regular season complete, the Quakers have clinched a spot in the ODAC Tournament. Stay tuned for updates as Guilford looks to carry its momentum into postseason play.
