Josephine Hemmer (Greenbay, Va.) and
Bec Cormack (Forest Park, Ill.) enjoyed great start for the Guilford College triathlon team, in today's season opener, posting PR's at the Tri a Tri for Hospice, hosted by Greensboro College at the Ridgewood Swim & Tennis Club on Saturday.
Hemmer and Cormack scored personal records and secured great overall placements in the competition. Leading the Quakers was Hemmer, who secured the top female swim time amongst NCAA competitors, with a 4:08 time, allowing her to have a smooth transition into the biking portion. Cormack was third out of the water, securing a time of 5:02.
Following the swimming portion, they continued to fight through the course with Hemmer placing second in the biking portion with a time of 35:01 and Cormack followed right behind her with a mark of 36:36.
Completing the 5k run to finish the competition, Hemmer notched a time of 19:41, placing her second, with a personal record overall chip time of 59:30.89. Placing second amongst NCAA female competitors. Cormack's run, a 27:27 tally, secured a third place finish in the competition, bring her chip time to 1:10:33.59, also a personal best.
Next, the Quakers travel to Davidson, N.C. to compete at the Lake Davidson Sprint on September 15, event start time is yet to be announced.
