Women's Volleyball Goes Perfect on Road Trip

A big day for the Guilford College women's volleyball as they completed their trip to Decatur, Georgia with two matches. The first game against Toccoa Falls, with a total of four sets played, Guilford won 3-1. The second match was against the Mississippi University for Women (MUW), ending in a full sweep for the Quakers.

Match 1: Guilford 3, Toccoa Falls 1

Set one of game one started in a back-and-forth between Guilford and Toccoa Falls. Towards the end of the set, the Quakers got two four-point runs leading them to victory, 25-19.

Set two was a rough one for Guilford, ending in a 25-18 loss. Not letting this effect the team, the Quakers came right back into set three with an eight-point run mid-game. Guilford did not let its lead go and dominated in a 25-11 win.

Set four was a bit of a close one, but Guilford kept a competitive edge over Toccoa Falls ending with a score of 25-19. Natalie Moore led the way with 13 kills and 10 digs

Match 2: Guilford 3, MUW 0

Just a few hours later, the Quakers went against the Mississippi University for Women. MUW had an early lead until the Quakers achieved two five-point streaks later in the set, winning 25-16. 

For set two, Guilford never let go of its lead, ending in a close 25-22 win. Lastly, to take it home in set three, GC was neck and neck with the Mississippi University for Women until the very end when the Quakers got the slightest lead, inching ahead and winning 25-23. Both Paige McDonald and Chirsbel Alcantara showed off with ten kills each. 

Guilford returns to the friendly confines of Ragan-Brown Field House on Tuesday, September 5 against North Carolina Wesleyan University. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
