Guilford Continues Hot Start to Season

The Guilford College women's volleyball showed no signs of weakness as they dominated in the home opener against North Carolina Wesleyan University. The Quakers claimed the win in straight sets for the third sweep this year. 

Both teams started set one with full force. The Bishops held a slight lead until the Quakers achieved a six-point run to capture an 8-5 edge. Guilford never relinquished the advantage and won the set, 25-20.

With a great crowd to cheer on the Quakers, set two was fast paced and filled with kills. The set was a quick win for Guilford with a whopping seven-point run, leading the Quakers to a 25-11 ending. 

Set three had an insane start for GC, jumping out to an 11-1 lead. The Quakers kept an almost ten point lead for the majority of the set, claiming the win with a 25-16 set score

A few of the star players of the evening included Paige McDonald and Chrisbel Alcantara, both securing seven kills each. Maddi Page finished with a double-double with 21 assists and 11 digs.

Guilford looks to carry the solid start to the year on Friday, September 8, as the Quakers take on Central College 6:00 p.m. and Meredith College 8:00 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C.
