Guilford Opens Season With Sweep

The Guilford College women's volleyball team dominated in its first game of the season against Agnes Scott College, 3-0. Natalie Moore, Paige McDonald, and Chrisbel Alcantara carried the game with ten, seven, and seven kills, respectively. 

Starting with set one, Guilford opened with a four-point lead. Mid-set, Agnes Scott caught up after an eight-point streak. Guilford had a massive comeback later in the set, with both a four and an eight-point run leading to a win for the Quakers with a final score of 25-18. 

Heading straight into set two, there was a lot of back and forth between Guilford and Agnes Scott. Once tied at 7-7, the Quakers took control of the set with a five-point run and went on to win, 25-16. 

Guilford and Agnes Scott were neck and neck for most of set three. When the score was tied at 16, Guilford scored eight-consecutive points which ultimately put the Quakers on track for a full sweep win in their first game of the season, 25-17. 

Additionally, Maddi Page totaled 25 assists and four aces. As a team, the quakers hit 0.240 on the evening.

Guilford has a double header on Saturday, September 2 against Toccoa Falls and Mississippi University for Women. The first match is to begin at 10:00 a.m.
