The Guilford College softball team challenged Shenandoah University in an elimination game in the ODAC Tournament. The Quakers bested the Hornets, 5-4.
The Quakers opened the scoring with a single from Grace Calus driving in Abbie Hill.
Shenandoah scored runs in the second and third innings to go in front, 2-1. In the fifth, the Hornets added one more
Guilford and Ally Morales kicked off the rally with a triple to drive in Hill. Calus followed with a triple of her own to plate Morales and tie the game at three.
The Quakers took the lead when Anna Fraizer singled and drove in Calus. Cierra Martin capped off the inning with an RBI single to right center go up by two, 5-3.
In the sixth, the Hornets pulled within one with a single to right field but was halted there as Guilford held on for the win.
Shiloh Gray threw a complete game, allowing four runs (all earned) on nine hits with seven strikeouts.
Guilford will face the loser between Roanoke and Lynchburg in the final game on Saturday, May 6. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
