The Guilford College softball team continued its stretch on the road against Randolph College. The Quakers fell in game one, 1-0 before claiming game two, 4-3.
Game 1: Randolph 1, Guilford 0
In the first game, it was all Randolph. The hosts were the only team to collect hits for the first five innings.
Cierra Martin broke up perfect game with a single in the top of the sixth.
The WildCats scored the lone run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single up the middle.
Despite picking up the loss,
Dillon Northen had a solid performance with six innings pitched, allowing one run (earned) on eight hits.
Game 2: Guilford 4, Randolph 3
The Quakers wasted little time getting on the board when two runs scored an error after
Anna Frazier singled to left field.
Ahead 2-0,
Shiloh Gray helped her own cause with an RBI single to left to push GC ahead by three. In the fourth,
Ally Morales doubled to left center as
Abbie Hill crossed home plate.
In the sixth, the hosts got on the board as it attempted a double steal. Randolph then scored its second run of the game in the seventh as a run scored on an error.
The WildCats pulled within the slimmest of margins with an RBI single through the middle. With two outs and the bases loaded, Gray forced a pop up to third as Morales made the catch to end the game.
Gray went seven innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts.
Guilford concludes its six-game road trip on Sunday, April 23 at Bridgewater College. Game one is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
