The Guilford College softball team hit the road to face the Bridgewater College Eagles. The Quakers fell in game one, 5-2, but was able to bounce back with a 3-2 win in game two.
Game 1: Bridgewater 5, Guilford 2
An even battle in the first three innings resulted in a scoreless match up until Bridgewater drove in the first run on a single.Â
The Eagles expanded its lead with four more runs in the fifth.
In the top of the sixth, Guilford scored its two runs off the bat of
Anna Frazier with a two-run homer.Â
The Quakers had runners in scoring position in the seventh but was unable to capitalize as they fell 5-2.
Game 2: Guilford 3, Bridgewater 2
Game two started off similar as both squads were scoreless in the first two innings. The Eagles followed the game one script as they scored two runs on a double and a single.
The hosts remained in front until the top of the sixth when Emma Patterson scored on a groundout.Â
Ally Morales followed with an RBI double to right center to even the score. After a sacrifice bunt, Frazier drove in Morales with a hit to center field.
Shiloh Gray held Bridgewater to two hits over the final two innings for the win. Gray pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs (all earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
For their final match up for the season, Guilford is set to host a double header against Randolph-Macon on Saturday, April 29. Game one starts at 1:00 p.m.
