The Guilford College softball team faced North Carolina Wesleyan University in a midweek doubleheader. The Quakers fell to the Bishops, 6-1 and 9-1
Game1: N.C. Wesleyan 6, Guilford 1
North Carolina Wesleyan captured the early lead with two home runs in the first to lead 3-0. Both pitchers settled in as neither team scored until the fifth.
In the bottom half of the inning,
Kassidy Lancos grounded out as
Logan Monkus scored. The Bishops responded in the sixth with three runs on five hits to go ahead by five (6-1).
The Quakers were held scoreless over its final two at-bats to close out the game.
Game 2: N.C. Wesleyan 9, Guilford 1
Similar to game one, the visitors jumped out to an early lead with an RBI double in the second.
In the fifth, N.C. Wesleyan added two more runs with a home run.
Ally Morales drove in Guilford's run with a single as Lancos crossed home.
The Bishops added two more runs in the sixth followed by a grand slam in the seventh to secure the win.
Guilford travels to the University of Lynchburg on Saturday, April 1. Game one starts at 1:30 p.m.
