The Guilford College baseball team faced the Roanoke College Maroons at McBane Field. The Quakers fell behind early and ultimately fell, 14-7.
Guilford opened the scoring when
Rylan Smith hit a single to left field to bring home
Bryce Vestal. Roanoke quickly responded with four runs in the second on three hits.
In the bottom half of the inning,
Carter Blum drove in
Colin Smith to make it a 4-2 game. The Maroons hit solo home runs in the third and fourth to go ahead by four (6-2).
The visitors truly grasped control in the fifth as it scored five runs on as many hits to jump up by nine (11-2). In the bottom half,

Roanoke scored its final three runs in the ninth before the Quakers offense tried for a late comeback. Three-consecutive singles,
Colin Smith hits a grand slam over the left field wall. Unfortunately, the rally ended there as the visitors won, 14-7.
Guilford hits the road for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 1 at Hampden-Sydney College. Game one is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
