Marcellus Shines in 21-run Victory

The Guilford College baseball team welcomed a familiar foe to McBane Field, the Greensboro College Pride. Behind a incredible performance from junior pitcher, Jackson Marcellus, the Quakers bested the Pride, 24-3.

After a scoreless inning and a half, Chase Wade put Guilford on the board with a line drive, two-run homer down the right field line. Later in the inning, Isaiah Hairston stepped to the plate with the bases loaded a roped a double to right center to clear the bases and give GC a 5-0 edge.

In the fourth, the Quaker bats went back to work as they scored 10 runs on nine hits led by a grand slam off the bat from Bryce Vestal.

Guilford kept the momentum in the fifth with seven runs on the same amount of hits including a three-run blast over the right field wall.

The hosts added two more runs in the seventh before Greensboro scored three in the ninth.

10 different Quakers drove in a run while totaling 12 extra base hits.
