The Guilford College softball team hit the road to face the Pfeiffer University Falcons. The Quakers fell in both games, 4-0 and 5-2.
Game 1: Pfeiffer 4, Guilford 0
In the opener, both teams' starting pitchers were dealing. Only four hits were allowed between the two squads until the bottom of the fourth when the hosts used two doubles to take a 1-0 edge.
From there, only two runners reached base before Pfeiffer hit a three-run homer to expand its lead and secure the victory.

The Falcons wasted little time grabbing the lead with a RBI single to left field. Trailing 1-0, Guilford had the bases loaded in the top of the second but a double play and a groundout ended the chance.
In the bottom of the third and fifth innings, the hosts add a run in each frame to hold a 3-0 edge.
The Quakers got on the board in the top of the sixth when
Makenley Mitchell doubled to center field and brought home
Ally Coker. Pfeiffer responded with two runs on two home runs in the bottom half of the inning to garner a 5-1 lead.
In the seventh,
Cierra Martin hit a sacrifice fly to center as
Morgan Lawson tagged up from third. Guilford's chance ended there as the hosts won by the final of 5-2.
Anna Frazier picked up the loss as she threw 5.1 innings, giving up five runs on nine hits.
Guilford returns home for a doubleheader with Southern Virginia on Saturday, February 25. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
