The Guilford College softball team faced the Sweet Briar College Vixen in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. The Quakers captured both games, 7-0 and 11-0.
Game 1: Guilford 7, Sweet Briar 0
In the first inning,
Anna Frazier got the Quakers on the board as a single scored
Kassidy Lancos. In the very next inning,
Ally Morales lifted a sacrifice fly to center to let
Makenley Mitchell tag up and score.
The bottom of the third saw Guilford add four more runs with two RBI hits fro
Ally Morales and
Shiloh Gray. GC added one more insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to secure the 7-0 win.
Gray picked up the win in the circle, throwing a complete game shutout with six strikeouts and five hits.
Game 2: Guilford 11, Sweet Briar 0 (5 Inn.)
Guilford picked up right where they left off with a three-run blast over the center field wall from
Anna Frazier. Later in the inning,
Cierra Martin and
Kylee Duarte drove in three more runs to give GC a 6-0 edge.
In the second, the Quakers added another run on an error followed by another one in the third. Guilford notched three more runs on two hits in the fourth to capture the doubleheader sweep.
Frazier pitched all five innings, only allowing two hits on the afternoon. Lancos finished the day with five total hits with three runs.
Guilford (2-2) travels to Pfeiffer University on Sunday, February 19 for two against the Falcons. Game one is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
