The Guilford College women's volleyball team hit the road to face Washington and Lee University. The Quakers fell to the Generals, 3-0.
In the opening set, teams matched each others move. With the set tied at six, Washington and Lee claimed nine of the next 10 points. Guilford struggled to get back into the set as it fell, 25-12.
The second set was a replica of the first with a tightly contested first part. Midway through, the Generals opened a 10-point gap (18-8). The Quakers were able to cut the deficit to seven (24-17) before dropping the set, 25-17.
For the third set, the two squads went back-and-forth to start. However, it was Guilford that started to pull away as it opened a four-point edge (18-14). Washington and Lee put together a 6-1 run to capture a 20-19 lead. After the lead switched between the two teams, the set was tied at 22. Unfortunately, the hosts won the final three points to win the set, 25-22, and the match.
The Quakers struggled hitting as
Natalie Moore totaled eight kills.
Madison Bozarth added 19 digs while Maddi Paige.
Guilford remains in Virginia to face Bridgewater College on Saturday, October 14. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
