The Guilford College women's lacrosse team faced Carthage College on Wednesday afternoon. The Quakers fell to the Firebirds, 20-5.
Carthage (4-1) scored the first three goals of the game. Guilford (3-4) got on the board at the 7:13 mark when
Maggie Hartnett scored off a pass from
Maggie Bryson. The Firebirds regained a three-goal lead but Hartnett found the back of the net for the final score of the first period. The visitors were ahead 4-2.
The second period was controlled by Carthage as it scored eight-straight goals and led 12-2 at the half.
Hartnett completed the hat trick to start the third but the Firebirds scored the next four goals.
Kellie Pearson scored her first goal of the season at the 1:56 mark of the third as Bryson picked up an assist.
In the fourth, Carthage opened the period with four more goals. The Quakers'
Sydne Sawyer scored the final goal with a helper to Hartnett.
Guilford will host Kalamazoo on Wednesday, March 23 at 5:00 p.m.
