The Guilford College men's basketball team hosted North Carolina Wesleyan College in a defensive brawl. A last second tip-in lifted the Battling Bishops over the Quakers, 52-50.

Coming out of the halftime locker rooms, North Carolina Wesleyan led by a single-point, 23-22. Guilford started strong with a 7-0 run led by a three from Tyler Dearman. The Bishops responded with a 9-2 run to even the score at 32 at the 13:48 mark.

The Quakers recaptured the lead, 35-32, and held a the advantage or a share of the lead until 9:00 left in regulation when the visitors hit a three. Down the stretch, GC struggled from the free throw line but made two of them to tie the game at 50 with just 1:21 remaining on the clock.

On NCWC's next possession, Dearman blocked the shot as Caleb Farrish rebounded the ball to give Guilford a shot at the lead. Unfortunately, the Quakers turned the ball over on a bad pass. Coming down the court, the Bishops held for the last shot. 

Coming off a screen, Austin Manley fired a three and as the ball bounced off the iron, Isaiah Lewis came in and tipped the ball in just before the buzzer sounded to give NCWC the two-point victory.

Both defenses were on lockdown as the Bishop's Manley was the game's leading scorer with 10 points. Gabe Proctor led the way for the Quakers with eight points while Dearman finished with seven points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

Guilford travels south to Atlanta, Georgia to take on Emory University on Saturday, November 19. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
