Guilford Breezes By Pacers

The  Guilford women's basketball team hosted the William Peace Pacers for their home opener in front of an electric crowd. The Quakers breezed passed the Pacers with a score of 77-46.

The Quakers were lead by Ashtyn Zeigler with 22 points, four rebounds, and a steal as well as Anna Giannopoulou with 13 points, eight rebounds and five steals. As a team Guilford 47.1% from the field and from three. 

Guilford started off the game hot scoring six-straight points to gain the lead with five points from Zeigler. The Pacers were able to fight back tying up the score, 8-8. From here the Quaker's offense just took off, keeping a lead for the rest of the game. Guilford's full-court press proved too much for the Pacer offense. At the half the score was 36-20 Guilford. 

The Quakers were able to keep the momentum through the halftime break and came out firing scoring off the fast break and getting everything to fall in the paint. A comfortable lead led to Guilford utilizing their bench with big minutes from Amara Harrell and Nyla Brown. The bench totaled 30 points during the game.

Guilford was also able to capitalize on turnovers from William Peace, scoring 30 points off them. The Quakers also dominated the rebound category 47-33, leading to 12 second-chance points. 

The great defensive night from Guilford held the Pacers to just 23.7% shooting. 

The Quakers look to keep their momentum heading to Virginia Wesleyan for the first conference game of the year on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 pm.
