Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Victorious on Homecoming

The Guilford College men's soccer team hosted Shenandoah University in the final of three different athletic events at Appenzeller Field. The Quakers won by the score of 1-0.

Both teams evenly controlled possession with Guilford firing the first three shots but none of them finding the goal. As play progressed, Shenandoah was able to place three shots on goal but Roman Robinson stopped each attempt.

As the first half was winding down, the Quakers had the ball played into the box. With a defender draped over him, Cameron Robinson fought his way to the ball and flipped it over the goalie for the first goal of the game.

GC held the advantage as the halftime horn sounded.

The second half was similar to the first but the Hornets began to build some momentum in their offensive zone but the Quaker defense stood tall. Both squads continued to go back-and-forth with counters.

Late in the second half, tempers began to flare as both teams were awarded yellow cards. However, that did not deter the Quakers as they held on for the one-goal victory.

Both teams had 10 total shots with 4-2 on goal advantage for Shenandoah. GC had six corners compared to four for the Hornets.

Guilford travels to Averett University on Wednesday, October 12. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
