Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Quakers and Pride Square Off

The Guilford College women's volleyball team traveled to Greensboro College to battle the Pride. The Quakers fell, 3-1.

Greensboro started set one by putting the first point on the board but Guilford answered with a kill from Cam Blankenship. The Pride regained the advantage until the Quakers went on a 10-2 run to lead 15-9. Guilford held the lead through the set and won, 25-22.

The second was similar to the first in the beginning. Guilford took control early and led 6-2. The Pride cut the deficit and tied at nine. The Quakers held the edge late and were within one point of taking the set. However, Greensboro won the final three points and claimed the set, 26-24.

The third opened with both squads going back and forth with scoring, eventually tying the score, 4-4. Guilford broke the tie and put up four consecutive points to take the lead with help from Vanessa Johnson and Natalie Moore. 

The hosts captured seven-straight points towards the end that put them in the lead, 17-11. Greensboro then increased their lead and took the win,  25-14.

The Pride took control of set four early on and did not look back as they won the set, 25-11.

Offensively, Moore led the team with eight kills while Kaci Johnosn followed behind with seven. Maddi Page totaled 24 assists, two digs and four kills.

Guilford will travel to Danville, Virginia to battle Averett University Cougars on Friday, October 7. Start time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
