The Guilford College men's soccer team made its way to Ashland, Virginia for a conference battle with the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. The Quakers fell in the match, 2-0.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half as possession and play was fairly balanced. Each squad placed three shots on goal as their respective goalkeepers made the saves. After the opening 45, the game remained scoreless.
In the second half, Randolph-Macon found the back of the net just 2:34 in. Play balanced back out until the 60th minute when the Yellow Jackets struck again to lead 2-0.
Most of the action took place near midfield as Guilford was able to place two shots on goal but the Randolph-Macon netminder made both saves to secure the two-goal victory.
The Yellow Jackets had six shots on goal compared to five for the Quakers while GC held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-7.
Roman Robinson made four saves in 90 minutes of action.
Guilford returns to Appenzeller Field on Wednesday, October 19 as the University of Lynchburg comes to campus. Start time is set for 3:00 p.m.
