HOW IT HAPPENED
Guilford trailed for the entirety of the opening set, especially hurt by several 3-plus point runs by R-MC. GC was able to string together four points, on a Vanessa Johnson kill,, Lydia Saunders service ace and a pair of R-MC errors. It dropped the set 25-17.
Set two started out very close, as there were a few ties and the Quakers even led at some points, including at 22-19. Their efforts were undone however, as they let the Yellow Jackets go on a 6-point run to end the set 25-22.
It appeared the third set was going in GC's favor as it kicked off with a 6-0 lead, as it was able to force four errors on the hosts. Slowly, R-MC put together a comeback, as the pair traded blows. Guilford led 23-20, but allowed five straight points to end the contest.
