GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the ODAC Conference Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Randolph-Macon on Sunday, May 1st.
The Quakers will now head to Norfolk, Va., for a clash with Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 5th.
Guilford grabbed three of its five points in doubles play, including an 8-3 win by Joe Horne and Elijah Gregory, who defeated Max Hammock and Alex Hein in No. 1 play. Teammates Jay Montague and Drake Schreiber picked up a point for the Quakers with an 8-4 triumph over Ryan Aud and Inigo Suescun in No. 2 doubles.
The No. 3 seeded tandem of Tye Sasser and Tim Thompson defeated Dani Recarte and Max Doyle by an 8-5 margin to notch a point in doubles play.
The final two Quaker points came in singles play when Schreiber posted a win in No. 3 singles over Hein by scores of 6-0, 6-4. Montague added the fifth point with a victory over Aud by scoring a 6-0, 6-0 win.
The lone victory for Randolph-Macon came in No. 5 singles when Dani Recarte downed Dominik Pocrnja 6-1, 6-3.
