GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Guilford College men's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season Saturday afternoon at the Dorothy Ragsdale McMichael '37 Centennial Class Courts, falling to Washington and Lee University, 7-0.

The Quakers competed in two doubles matches and four singles matches against the Generals, with Washington and Lee earning victories in each of the matches played. The Generals also earned points by forfeit in No. 3 doubles and Nos. 5 and 6 singles.

In doubles action, George Hardie (Liberty, N.C.) and Turner Johnson (Oak Ridge, N.C.) competed at No. 1, falling to Henry Imorde and Lach McCaghren, 6-0. At No. 2, Alex Brown (Burlington, N.C.) and Abdullah El Mouaquite (Queens, N.Y.) fell to Todd Cannaliato and Dutch Prather, 6-0.

Hardie battled at No. 1 singles, falling to Imorde, 6-2, 6-2. Brown competed at No. 2 singles against Prather, falling 6-2, 6-0, while Johnson dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to McCaghren at No. 3. El Mouaquite rounded out Guilford's singles lineup at No. 4, falling to Justin Ilie, 6-1, 6-0.

The Quakers return to action Tuesday, October 6, hosting Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte at 2:00 p.m. at the Dorothy Ragsdale McMichael '37 Centennial Class Courts.
