Quakers Close Weekend with 7-2 Win Over Shenandoah

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford men's tennis team regained its form on Saturday, April 3rd, when the Quakers downed visiting Shenandoah by a 7-2 margin in Greensboro.

Guilford (5-1, 4-1 ODAC) grabbed the early 1-0 lead when Tye Sasser and Tim Thompson posted an 8-2 win over Brenton Baugh and Will Sides in No. 3 doubles. Shenandoah (5-2, 2-2 ODAC) responded with an 8-6 win in No. 1 doubles as Keith Orr and Vitali Rivera posted a victory over Joe Horne and Elijah Gregory. The final doubles match belonged to Drake Schreiber and Jay Montague, who defeated the tandem of Darian Diaz and Aidan Steinly in No. 3 doubles by a score of 9-7.

Montague grabbed his second win of the afternoon in decisive fashion (6-0, 6-0) over Baugh in the meeting of No. 4 singles. Shenandoah's Darian Diaz answered with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 win of his own in No. 3 singles, defeating Gregory.

Horne picked up another Guilford point in No. 1 singles defeating Keith Orr by scores of 7-5, 7-6 (7-3). Pocrnja followed that with a 6-0, 6-4 victory against Steinly in No. 5 doubles. Drew Clark grabbed the sixth point of the day for the Quakers, downing Sides by scores of 6-0, 6-1.

Guilford added its final point of the afternoon when Schreiber came through with a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win over Rivera in No. 2 singles.
