HOW IT HAPPENED
It looked as if the momentum from Wednesday's 3-0 win over Ferrum was carrying over into the battle with Carolina as Guilford opened with a pair of Sydney Hopewell service aces to lead, 2-0. GC was competitive early on, leading 8-7 at one point, but saw its efforts undone as it let up 5-straight points at one point. Carolina claimed the set 25-12.
Set two was tougher, as the Quakers trailed for the entirety, despite a few good plays. They dropped the frame 25-11.
The final set of the contest was by far the best for Guilford, as it traded points with Carolina in the early goings, even leading for a brief moment. GC fell 25-14.
TOP PERFORMING QUAKERS

Hannah Stout led her team on the attack, recording nine kills. She also posted a second-best nine digs.

It was Sydney Hopewell who led most of the statistical categories for Guilford. Hopewell had 13 assists, 10 digs and three service aces.

Adison Needham was strong at the net, going up a team-leading three blocks. Needham had two block assists and one solo block.

Lydia Saunders had one service ace and one block solo.

Freshman Faith Fennell had two block assists.
