Quaker Baseball Rallies for 3-2 Win at William Peace

CARY, N.C. -- Relief pitcher Ryan Hill got the win and Giovanni Garcia singled home Mitchell Stumpo for the winning runs as Guilford College won at William Peace University, 3-2, on Wednesday night.

The Quakers secured their first win of the year and improved to 1-3. The Pacers fell to 2-3 on the young season.

Guilford outhit the Pacers, 8-6. Garcia was 3-for-4 with one RBI. Stumpo and Hayes Henderson each knocked a double in the contest.

Ty Walser started on the mound for the visitors. He threw six innings, allowed two runs and five hits. He struck out six before Hill replaced him. Hill (1-0) surrendered no runs, one hit and fanned three batters in his three frames of relief.

Nick Tilley was 2-for-4 to pace William Peace batters. Relief pitcher Phillip Locklear (0-1) suffered the defeat for WPU.

Guilford hosts Penn State Abington on Friday. Guilford's home opener begins at 2:30 p.m.
