Guilford Sweeps Ferrum in Nonconference Men's Tennis Win

FERRUM, Va. - Guilford College's men's tennis team swept Ferrum College in all nine matches Sunday to improve to a 4-2 overall record.

Ferrum only managed to win two games of the 26 in doubles competition. Guilford's first-doubles team of Tate Godwin and Graham Pearson, plus the third-doubles team of Logan Glass and Jarad Gandy, came away with 8-1 victories. In the second doubles match, Mason Robb and Elijah Gregory conceded no games on their way to an 8-0 win.

The Quakers similarly dominated on the singles court, losing only six games as a team. In first singles, Godwin handled Kevin Ramirez 6-1, 6-0, for his fifth singles win of the season. Robb, Glass, and Gregory fared just as well, defeating their opponents in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Gandy put away Houston Murphy 6-3, 6-0, and Kane Mills rounded out Guilford's nine points with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Thomas Wallace.

Coach Dave McCain's Quakers will host Hampden-Sydney Saturday at 3 pm for their third conference matchup of the season.
