GREENSBORO, N.C. – Visiting Washington and Lee University ended Guilford College's four-match men's tennis winning streak Sunday with an 8-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory. The Generals (11-5, 8-0 ODAC) are ranked 33rd in the current Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III Tennis Rankings.
Washington and Lee's Jordan Krasner and Will Bannister teamed for an 8-3 win over Guilford's Tate Godwin and Mesa Martorell at first doubles, 8-3, Krasner knocked off Godwin at first singles, 6-1, 6-0. Bannister pulled out the day's closest contest with a 7-5, 7-5, win over Martorell at second singles.
The Generals' Mac Zheng and Thomas Harmon posted an 8-2 second-doubles win over Chasen Chacon and Graham Pearson. Washington and Lee's pair posted convincing singles wins as Zheng downed Jon-Anthony Thomas in the fourth flight, 6-1, 6-0, and Harmon topped Levi Bruff 6-0, 6-1, in the fifth flight.
Bruff and Aaron Smedley teamed for an 8-5 third-doubles win over Zack Ely and Jack Johnson, which accounted for the Quakers' (6-4, 4-2 ODAC) point.
