GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's men's tennis team won its second straight match Saturday night with a 9-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Lynchburg College (1-7, 0-2 ODAC) in the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
Number-one seed Erik Meiler was one of four two-time winners for the Quakers (2-6, 2-2 ODAC) Saturday. He and Aaron Smedley started their evening with an 8-2 first-doubles victory over Lynchburg's Josh Johnson and Dom Gutierrez. Meiler topped Johnson, 6-0, 6-1, at first singles. Smedley was a 6-0, 6-0, fourth-singles winner over the Hornets' Bryce Barber.
Guilford's third-doubles tandem of Levi Bruff and Mesa Martorell captured their match, 8-1, over Lynchburg's Nick Savino and Jordan Falinski. Bruff also won at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-0, over Falinski. Martorell took a second-singles win over Gutierrez, 6-3, 6-3.
Guilford's Mason Church and John Brvenik both needed a third-set tie break to defeat their opponents at third and sixth singles, respectively.
