Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. – Guilford College's volleyball team dropped a pair of nonconference matches Saturday at William Peace University.
The Quakers (1-6) fell to North Carolina Wesleyan College in their first match of the day, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19. Kelsey Ruehling led Guilford with six kills, but also had six errors. Heather Crawford and Casey Davis contributed five putaways apiece. Maile Munro set up 18 kills and had seven digs. Brooke Herr paced the team with a match-high 16 digs.
Tori Stewart made a match-best 11 kills for the Bishops (1-3). Ayla Brewer added 31 assists and nine digs.
The host Pacers (6-2) avenged a loss last Saturday to the Quakers with a narrow 25-21, 26-24, 25-11 victory. Davis had nine kills and 12 digs for Guilford. Rueling had seven putaways, but again made an equal number of hitting errors. Herr finished with 11 digs and Munro chipped in 23 assists.
Merica Ivey and Nicole Phillips both had nine kills for William Peace. Kennedey Paine set up 27 kills, a match-high, and served up two aces.
The Quakers open Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Wednesday (9/16) at Lynchburg College.
