GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's men's tennis team defeated Shenandoah University, 9-0, Saturday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The contest was played at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
Guilford's Turner Votipka teamed with Erik Meiler for an 8-3 first-doubles win over Shenandoah's Steven Baker and Jesse Ewing at first doubles. Votipka downed Baker at first singles, 6-0, 6-0. Meiler also won twice, stopping Matt Hwang, 6-3, 6-4.
The Quakers' Levi Bruff contributed a pair of dominant wins at the lower flights. He and Mesa Martorell stopped Hwang and Will Leach, 8-0, at third doubles. Bruff took home a 6-1, 6-1, sixth-singles win over Kelly Sykes.
Coach Dave McCain's Quakers (3-3, 2-1 ODAC) host Bridgewater College Sunday (3/15) at noon in another ODAC match.
Shenandoah falls to 3-4, 0-4 in the ODAC.
