Box Score ROANOKE, Va. – Rookie Taylor Creed pounded home a match-high 12 kills and teammate Becca Benfield added nine in Guilford College's 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win at Hollins University Tuesday night. The Quakers (6-13, 2-4 ODAC) prevailed, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16, for their third win in four matches.
Sparked by Benfield's sterling .643 hitting percentage, Guilford hit a season-high .262 as a team and committed just two serve receive errors. Benfield did not have a hitting error in her 14 attempts and also had a block to account for 9.5 points. Michaela Wall had seven kills and hit an efficient .462. Kelsey Ruehling added eight kills and three digs.
Guilford's Maile Munro had 41 assists, plus two service aces and a seven digs. Brooke Herr paced the defense with 16 pickups and Mackenzie Clapp added nine digs.
Lauren Hays and Jordan Persinger shared team-high honors with six kills apiece for Hollins (4-17, 0-7 ODAC). Haley Ortiz led the hosts with 12 digs.
Coach Emily Gann's team is back in action Friday (10/17) night at league-rival Randolph College.
